Initially Ethan Kim never intended to be a swimmer in college. Just as his years in high school were ending, he thought his swimming career had come to a conclusion as well. His primary focus was always going to the weight room and working out but he came in touch with an old friend Rece Storer who then convinced him to join the swim team and become roommates. His life as a student athlete started here.
At first Ethan wasn’t sure how he would manage early morning practices, classes, and routinely hitting the gym all at once, but he quickly found himself falling back in love with the water. The competitive atmosphere of college swimming quickly returned the love he once had for swimming. The social environment also made it a lot easier for him to feel comfortable around his teammates, not only grinding in the pool but also having fun with friends.
Swimming isn’t just a sport for Ethan anymore, it’s a part of his identity and his daily source of motivation. It has taught him the importance of time management, and teamwork. Swimming shaped Ethan not only into a better athlete, but into a better person as well.
